What is a Foundation Learning programme?
Foundation learning has been created to help you progress to level 2 — GCSE grades A* to C or equivalent — and into employment. This programme may be suitable if you are working at entry level or level 1. It allows you to work at your own pace to get the skills and qualifications you need to succeed. Through Foundation Learning, you can get Awards, Certificates and Diplomas. You will study a specific subject or job, personal and social development and functional skills — English, IT and maths.
If you are on a Foundation Learning programme, you may get Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). This will depend on your parents' or carers' income and it could be £10, £20 or £30 a week.
