Diploma frequently asked questions
The Diploma is a new qualification which gives you the chance to learn all about an industry and then apply your learning through things like practical projects and work experience. They are available at three levels:
- Level 1 — Foundation Diploma — equivalent to up to five GCSEs at grades D to G.
- Level 2 — Higher Diploma — equivalent to up to seven GCSEs at grades A* to C.
- Level 3 — Advanced Diploma — equivalent to up to three and a half A levels or the Progression Diploma — equivalent to up to two and a half A levels.
The Diploma could be one of your options after Year 9 and after Year 11. They will be available in the following thirteen subjects from the 2010/2011 academic year:
From 2011, Manufacturing and Product Design will be introduced.
