You have the right to an education from age five up to 16. You also have the right not to be discriminated against by schools, colleges, training providers and universities because of your race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality or religion.
As well as treating you fairly on your course, providers must also make sure that they offer you impartial advice about all your progression options and not just tell you about certain learning, work or training opportunities that they think you will be suited to.
Every provider will set out how they will promote and monitor equal opportunities in an equal opportunities policy. If you want to see a copy of the equal opportunities policy for your school, college or training provider, ask your tutor. If you want to see a copy of the equal opportunities policy for the provider you are applying to, ask their admissions team.
If you feel you have been discriminated against, you should speak to your Connexions Personal Adviser straight away.
